Every song has a story, and this one started when Doug Webb stumbled upon an old hook line from a tune Sawdust Charley had once worked on: “Bartender, Can You Fix a Marriage on the Rocks?” The phrase had just the right mix of humor and heartbreak—the makings of a true country classic. Doug decided to build something fresh around it, and with the help of Band-in-a-Box, we experimented with different styles, chord patterns, and melodies until the song took shape. Once we recorded the track, we ran it through Suno, an innovative new songwriting tool, to give it a polished, full studio sound. The results blew us away, and it sparked a bigger idea—why not bring new life to more of Sawdust Charley’s old live recordings?
